To have a tattoo heal with no color loss or scabbing, it is imperative to leave the bandage on till the following morning to keep any weeping fluids from developing a scab. The following day the tattoo should be cleaned periodically with warm water and soap, no ointments or salves should be applied for the first three days. Peeling should occur by the third day. Do not pick at a new tattoo, everything will come off in it's own time. Lotion after the third day is recommended twice daily.
